Design Workshop for the Matumaini School and Dormitory in Uganda

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of underprivileged children? Do you have a knack for design and innovation? We invite architects, urban planners, engineers, educators, and anyone with a creative spirit to join us for a unique opportunity to contribute to a meaningful project in Uganda.

Project Overview:
Makao Kwetu is organising a design workshop aimed at creating a school and dormitory facility for underprivileged children in Uganda. The project seeks to provide a safe, conducive, and inspiring environment for learning and living for children who lack access to adequate educational facilities.

Workshop Objectives:

Collaboratively design a school and dormitory facility that promotes holistic development and inclusivity.

Incorporate sustainable and environmentally friendly design principles.

Address the specific needs and challenges faced by underprivileged children in Uganda.

Foster cross-disciplinary collaboration and exchange of ideas among participants.
Workshop Details:

Date: 18th June - 2nd July 2024
Location: Design Quarter Kampala, Uganda
Duration: 2 weeks
Format: The workshop will include site visits, brainstorming sessions, design charrettes, group discussions, and presentations.

Workshop Cost
​
The total cost of the workshop is $1,500.
Includes: Accommodation, Meals (3meals daily), Transportation around Kampala, Transfer to and from the airport, Internet and Community engagement activities.
Excludes: Visas, Flights and Vaccinations.
